For improvement of the efficiency of recycling of kitchen waste by composting facilities and biomass energy reuse, this project has completed all of the work items and concluded as followed:
First,25 sites of crushing- dewatering and high efficiency composting facilities were investigated for the efficiency improvement. Meanwhile, 25 composting plants were investigated by 3 invited experts, and provided counseling reports for the plant to improve the operation efficiency and up- grade the mechanical function. Therefore, the quality of composting product will be improved.
Secondary, for the biomass energy utilization, this project collected and evaluated international reports of anaerobic digestion on kitchen waste, and recommended the periodic strategies for Taiwan to promote the anaerobic digestion or co-digestion of kitchen waste.
Third, assist EPA to amend the Appendix 1 of the Bulletin of "Methods of General Waste Clearance and Disposal", which will overcome the obstacle for the application of composting product and digestate of anaerobic digestion.
Meanwhile, seven times of meetings were held in terms of handling kitchen waste recycling and reuse. The relevant departments of organic waste treatment are invited to discuss the development of energy resource treatment of kitchen waste and agricultural surplus materials to achieve the goal of resource recycling.
Finally, diversify utilization of kitchen waste, include feed, fertilizer and energy application were compared, it will be helpful for the EPA to continuous promote the kitchen waste recycling and attain the objective of circular economic.
